Safari West
The colors of Safari West
The mystique of the African continent comes alive at Safari West through its artisians and the display of colorful artwork, masks, sculptures and various crafts. Peter Lang, Safari West owner and founder is an artist himself and a talented wood sculptor.
Safari West has always been close to nature. The art comes through in the architecture of the buidings and their furnishings. Nearly all of the furniture in the dining room and the tent cabins is made in a sawmill on the property. Peter Lang uses salvaged woods, logs that have fallen in local woods or fields to create doors, tables, headboards and countertops. Even the wooden floors in the buildings are milled and finished at his sawmill which is located directly on property.

"I wanted our rooms to be part of the landscape, not closed off from it," says Peter Lang. "I wanted people sitting inside to feel like they were looking outside. I envisioned them overlooking a well-visited water hole."
