Make special arrangements to have an even closer encounter with the Safari West animals with a Private Animal Adventure. We offer a number of different options, as listed below. Be sure to reserve your adventure before arriving at Safari West to assure availability. All payment for Private Animal Adventures goes to conservation. Please note: All Private Animal Adventures are subject to change based on the welfare of the animals and are non-refundable.
Bonnie Cromwell of Classroom Safari brings her own exotic animals to Safari West for your viewing and educational enjoyment. Subjects may include ocelots, hedgehogs, ferrets, snakes, alligators and more! Ms. Cromwell’s presentations last for about one hour at a cost of $350 for a group of up to 25 people. Additional guests may be added for $10 each.
Fast Cat Alley Cheetah Encounter
Experience the thrill of an exclusive behind-the-scenes encounter as our cheetah handlers take you to Fast Cat Alley, an area normally closed to guests, to spend time with our amazing cheetahs. You’re close enough to count their spots and hear them purr! This truly magical educational experience is sure to inspire and further your love for cheetah’s and cheetah conservation! The Fast Cat Alley Cheetah Encounter lasts 45 minutes to one hour long and costs $200 for a maximum of two adults. No children are allowed on the Fast Cat Alley Cheetah Encounter due to safety concerns. All animal encounter sessions are based on availability and animal behavior. This is your own private tour.
Cheetah Barn Visit
Meet our sisters – Thula and Gima in their cozy den. You will be with one of our cheetah handlers who will talk to you about our cheetahs and cheetahs in the wild. This is one half hour long. This educational talk is aimed to raise awareness about cheetah conservation and give a deeper insight as to why these animals are so remarkable. Adults and kids may partake. $200 for up to 4 people (adults and children).
Wild Walk Behind-the-Scenes Encounter
Experience a true behind-the-scenes visit with our animals. Get up close and personal with some of our most unique and loved furred, feathered or scaled residents. This is the perfect way for the curious mind to further explore and learn not only about our great animals but also about what it takes to care for them. You will be given an opportunity to visit the giraffes and feed them, plus many more! This is a private encounter you will never forget. (Due to seasonal animal requirements the locations are subject to change).
Behind-the-scenes start at $225 for two people. You can expand your group at the rate of $50 per additional adult and $30 for each additional child, up to a six-person maximum limit. Gratuity is included in this price.
Be a Safari West Keeper of the Day
Got an urge to discover what it’s like to be responsible for the care and feeding of exotic wildlife? Sign up to become a Safari West Keeper of the Day! Have fun working among our mammals and birds, preparing and distributing their food. The experience is mildly physical and you must at minimum be able to climb in and out of a pickup truck and be able to lift 50 pound buckets. Wear closed toed shoes and long pants. Two opportunities are available.
Keeper of the Day – Morning Package The morning package costs $250 per person with a two-person maximum. You’ll be involved from 9:00 a.m. through noon, and must be at least 18 years of age.
Keeper of the Day – Overnight Package The overnight package includes lodging in one of our safari tent cabins with a full continental breakfast in the morning, and you’ll also get to enjoy lunch and dinner around the BBQ with the new friends you’ll make. You’ll wind down your busy day with the complimentary bottle of wine you’ll find in your tent, and each of you will receive a Safari West T-shirt to commemorate the day! The overnight package costs $1,000 for two adults (maximum) who will be involved from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a break for lunch and must be at least 21 years of age.
