Save the Turtles

Save the Turtles is a true all-volunteer grass-roots organization. Since our conception, no one has received any salaries, and the donations we receive are dedicated to the direct protection of endangered sea turtles and their eggs. Although we have assisted different regions over the last 20 years, currently we send grants to projects safeguarding sea turtles from poachers in Costa Rican and Nicaraguan projects where poaching is extreme.

Our mission includes financial support to the local turtle patrollers who protect the vulnerable nesting turtles on the beach at night, a dangerous job. We send grants whenever possible for their challenging work. Providing salaries also benefits the locals in the small communities to embrace conservation, attaining a more sustainable life. Saving different species of nesting sea turtles allows for future generations. Turtle patrollers also safeguard hatchlings until they catch their first wave and begin their new journey into the ocean.
