Elizabeth Winstead Beaver Talk from Worth a DamAbout the Speaker

The fascinating 2021 California Beaver Summit turned Elizabeth Winstead into a beaver believer. She started visiting the beavers in Fairfield where, as an avid bird watcher, she naturally had to start birding the creek where they have a series of dams. In 2022 she became a certified California Naturalist and wrote an article on the ecological benefits of beavers for birds for the Golden Gate Audubon Society.

She helps with community education events and photography as a volunteer with Worth a Dam. Worth a Dam is a non-profit founded to protect the beavers of Martinez, CA, and the annual Martinez Beaver Festival organizer. She also leads field trips to see beavers and birds for Golden Gate Audubon Society.

Elizabeth graduated cum laude from Bryn Mawr College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and has varied career experiences as an archaeologist, a consultant for children with learning disabilities, and as a consultant in healthcare.

She posts nature photos on Instagram @violaceous_euphonia
