More than 10,000 students visit Safari West in each year, but we estimate that as many as 5,000 more are not able to attend due to financial limitations. To address this discrepancy, the Safari West Wildlife Foundation provides the Discover Africa scholarship program.
If you’re a teacher whose field trip budget has been lost to California’s fiscal crisis, or if you’re an animal lover who believes students should have exposure to the animal kingdom as part of their basic education, this program provides an opportunity you can’t afford to miss. Teachers can bring their classes on a Safari West field trip regardless of budgetary issues, and animal lovers can make tax-deductible donations to help us continue aiding educators.

History is filled with stories about how an individual made a significant positive impact on our society simply because someone or some organization gave them an opportunity to experience something that changed their lives and pointed them in a whole new direction. We hope we can do this with the Discover Africa program.

Since 2003, Safari West Wildlife Foundation has been committed to extending field trip opportunities to underprivileged schools in Sonoma County and the Greater Bay Area. By supporting the Safari West Wildlife Foundation, you are enabling these children to embrace their connection to animals, to learn to respect our environment and to better understand their own significance within the world.
Additional information for Educators
Each month during the school year, we invite educators to Safari West for a free orientation workshop. During this one-hour tour, teachers learn what to expect prior to bringing their class. We provide this workshop, along with our state-aligned curriculum, to create a more meaningful experience for students.
